Re: Will North Korea Push the Button?

North Korea doesn't have cars to export, nor is tourism bringing in foreign currency.
Since 1952, North Korea's source of hard currency has been extortion, almost exclusively subsidized by the USofA.
Like with any extortionist, they have to ramp up the threats every once in a while to keep the money flowing. And we keep paying even while making big noises about what we are going to do (but do nothing, and they know we will do nothing, and they know we know, etc. because China is watching). Anyway, I digress. They will do nothing because actually doing something like that will not produce the bucks they are after.
It is all just a game played by hypocrite politicians on all sides. We started playing this game towards the end of the Korean War when when they sat our military delegation in chairs that were cut 6 inches lower than their N. Korean counterparts -just to make us look ridiculous. We should have set the tone right then, walked out, and then tossed a couple of hand grenades back into the tent. Instead we set ourselves up as weak and willing to pay endless extortion payments. I would love to know what the exact figure coming out of CIA and other slush accounts actually totals.
