A-fib in MO

Female, age 59, BMI good, non-tobacco.

Client experienced rapid heartbeat summer of 2007 and went to doctor. Heart monitor revealed atrial fibrillation and Sotalol 80mg 2xday was prescribed. No recurrences since and dr. has advised that med treatment may be stopped but he has not yet done so. Last visit to dr. was 12/22/09. No other health issues.

Looking to drop her group coverage and go to an individual plan. UHC says, "No way, Jose." Assurant's guidelines call for decline for chronic a-fib -- is it chronic if it was a one-time occurrence but ongoing meds?

BCBS is usually more lenient on atrial fib, would depend on what your local BCBS is though.

Got an offer a few months back from Humana on a similar situation, but taking Atenolol.
