I use it on my browser. I do know from SEO'ers that the Alexa rankings can be manipulated and do not show the real story for the website.

Buyer beware if you are using someone to help you lower your rankings.

I think you are going to have an issue having a sub domain website. You are piggy backing off another website.

www.blahblah.realwebsite.com

you need to just have www.realwebsite.com and stop with the blahblah. part of it.

.webs.com is what gets the ranking.

By their rankings, you can see which site has the highest search volume and authority as well. So, this is a good tool to check website's strength and popularity.

Alexa is a good tool but use it with a grain of salt. It only collects data from users with their tool bar or for sites with the Alexa badge directly on the site.

i dont worry about alexa. Just use the info to see how well i am doing regarding traffic volume.
