As a non-captive independent agent, how many agent codes can I have with a carrier?

Currently with one BGA selling mostly Term. Adding FEX with another BGA and most likely other forms of life eventually. I now have a friend that wants to throw me leads from his P&C business but I'd also have to use his BGA. Is this possible?

Traditional life and FEX companies are different.

Traditional life - I have several companies that I have a few contract numbers with. Some are 10-20 years old. Example: Protective I think I have 3, AIG 2-4, Lincoln National a couple. No need to ask for a release. Independent agents. Treated like independent agents.

FEX companies - seem to have a side deal with the large marketing organizations and IMOs. You have to go through an IMO and hope they release you when you ask. However, you can have multiple IMOs and some direct contracts with a few companies such as Security National.
