Thanks for all of your help. It breaks my heart to see this young man have such a bleak prognosis. Hopefully he will get the transplant soon, and then he can re-visit the life insurance problem. He does have some group coverage through his work--hopefully he can get some more without having to prove insurability.

Thanks everyone! I broke the news to him yesterday and he was okay with it. I told him to check with his HR department at work to see if he could buy any additional coverage without proof of insurability. Sad case :(
