We have been writing an average of 20-25 DI apps per year for mortgage protection for our P & C clients for the last fifteen years until our market dried up this past year. Most of these are small DI policies of $1,000/month benefit avg. to cover mortgage payments(5-600yr premium) Is it worth finding another carrier who can place this stuff or just telling the clients to go get it at the bank ? My hangup with turning it over to the bank is that they will also get the mortgage term life which I normally spin into more substantial whole life sales when I write the DI/life package.
