Here's the scenario
2020 taxes: 2022 is under IRMAA, at $175K AGI for the couple
2021 taxes: 2023 should still be under IRMAA because the spouse died in 2022
Here's the part where I need some confirmation:
2022 taxes: 2024 IRMAA is based on the tax return, the year the spouse died. The year the spouse dies, it still considered a joint return. So its still based on the couple vs single number?
2023 taxes: 2025 IRMAA, I can appeal, since the income drops in 2023, using the death certificate? They will still be above the line, but I can get them to level 2 from level 4.
Anybody have any thoughts or have done this before?
