Is Nation Safe Drivers Conducting an Agent Shakedown?

I've been selling NSD motor club for about 9 months now. I get a package today from NSD stating SC won't let them stay licensed in the state without appointed producers. I search the DOI and sure enough they are licensed but no appointments made. Thing is, they are asking for producer profile and a $20 appointment fee per producer. Has anyone seen them do something like this? I'm a little taken aback.

I'm not familiar with this carrier. but No, I have never had a carrier ask me to pay an "appointment fee".

this sounds to me like they were signing up any agent that applied, and only doing bare minimum due diligence... and now they have more agents than they can afford to pay background checks for... that's just a guess, but because the fee is "per producer", that smells like what it is.
