Is Pre-paid Legal Worth Offering As an Add-on to Any Type of Insurance?

ha! your post had me laughing after the first paragraph, and tuned out after the 2nd.

Selling PrePaidLegal as an add-on is ridiculous. You want to sell an add on? Sell a whole life policy, rates will be low with underage clients, commission as high as 115%, and you won't be upselling a product that A. Makes no sense as a bundle with a Major Med, and B. Is a crappy product to start with.

I've owned a membership to protect my family and myself for almost 25 years. You may hear from some who do not understand it, yet still try to sound like EXPERTS about things that they don't know about.

Get back with the person who showed you about PPLSI, and have them show you the DVD that has been shown on national TV on Court TV and True TV. There have been some recent improvements in the compensation plan.

In order to offer the service for 35 years, it has to be approved by insurance commissioners, and attorney generals of some states have to judge that the membership dues and benefits are in the best interests of the public. Former attorney generals, and the former President of the American Bar Association have great praises for Pre-Paid Legal Services Inc. (PPLSI)

Major financial magazines such as Forbes, Fortune, Money, etc. have used their extensive research experts and have written praising articles about PPLSI.

However, the best way to judge PPLSI's membership is how many families and businesses VOLUNTARILY pay their monthly membership dues WITHOUT being LOCKED into a one, two, or three year contract like cellular phones, gym, and other services that FAST TALK you into signing a contract. There are over 1.5 MILLION MEMBERS !!!

The benefits are the same in most states, however they vary in some states. In 15 states, it is considered an insurance product and you have to have an insurance license or be registered. Michigan does NOT require you to be a licensed agent.

It's a stand alone product, not an add on product. Many do NOT understand how to use the most VALUABLE benefits, PREVENTATIVE LEGAL SERVICES. Advice from a lawyer can keep a legal QUESTION from becoming a legal PROBLEM or CRISIS !!!

Educate your clients about how to use the preventative services to get a will, living will, and durable medical power of attorney done for the member, spouse, and covered memebrs who are 18 and over. Remind them to never sign anything, even to buy a car without their attorney reviewing the contract.

Explain who is covered. Get them to call the law firm and ask any questions that they have and have them fill out their will questionaires.

If they don't use it, because they do NOT know who is covered and WHAT is covered, then they may eventually cancel it without even using it for their wills, legal questions, and contract reviews of even contracts that they have already signed.

Sometimes you can't appreciate what you had ... UNTIL IT'S GONE !

Explain that after they have had the coverage for 15 days that any NEW MOVING traffic tickets are covered, and to NOT PLEAD GUILTY to any tickets. Otherwise they might be paying higher rates for the next 3 to 5 years or more.

Even the BEST CAR INSURANCE will NOT pay even a single PENNY to defend you against criminal charges such as Negligent Vehicular Homicide or manslaughter. However, if it's been at least 15 days since you joined before the accident, and you are NOT DUI, hit and run, or drving a vehicle with more than two axles then you are covered if the vehicle is properly licensed and insured, and you have the owner's permission to use the vehicle as a licensed driver, then you or a covered member can be covered !!! for these criminal charges !!!

Keeping the points off your license can save you a lot on your insurance.

If something causes you to be sued from an incident that happened after you became a member or a job-related criminal charge, then you are covered under a schedule of benefit hours.

Under the FAMILY membership, you and your spouse or significant other are covered for PERSONAL IRS audits. There are BUSINESS LEGAL plans that may cover you for "Schedule C" IRS Audits.

PRE-EXISTING conditions are covered under the PREVENTATIVE legal advice, and also under the 25% preferred member discount.

Contrary to what another poster said, no-contest divorces are not covered, except under the PREVENTATIVE legal advice, and also under the 25% preferred member discount.

The longer that you and your clients keep it, the more pre-trial and in-court legal defense hours that you will have. They get REPLINISHED for new lawsuits that happen during the next membership year.

To enroll memberships, you'll have to BREAK SOME OLD RULES of INSURANCE.

# 1. The clients get more benefit hours during their first 5 years, BUT you can't charge them more.

# 2. You can add a spouse or significant other, and children, but you can't charge them more.

# 3. You can't raise their rates or cancel them for using it too much. PPLSI has NEVER raised a members rates in the 35+ years that they have been in business.

# 4. Just because they have or have had legal problems, you can NOT decline to cover them, exclude that problem from future coverage, or charge them higher rates.

# 5. PRE-EXISTING conditions are covered under the PREVENTATIVE legal advice, and also under the 25% preferred member discount.

You'll get paid just like an agent or broker with advances, over-rides, and renewal income. However, it's not a service contract. You can will it to your spouse, children, church, or favorite charities.

Let me know if you have other questions.

The NEW YORK Stock Exchange investigates before they allow stock to be traded on their exchange. PPLSI has been checked out from A to Z and Z to A, many times, but some still say negative about them and other great companies.

Don't forget to check out the Identity Theft Shield, 24/7 EMERGENCY ACCESS Legal Shield RIDER.

Best wishes,
Joe

It's funny that some people waste so much time criticizing a concept that they do NOT understand, and they obviously have no useful knowledge to share. Others like to change the subject to tooth paste and tooth brushes, and other off topics.

I've found that those who try the hardest to DISrespect or make fun of others, are doing it because they have a very low self esteem (ego) and are trying to divert attention from themselves.

Those that enroll PPLSI members have made it quite clear that the family or business LEGAL memberships, or identity Theft COVERAGE are NOT add-ons. They are separate policies that can NOT be combined with any other coverage.

I've found that people who are very eager to give others a piece of their mind, usually have the LEAST TO SPARE. Your posts perfectly illustrate that point.

Pre-Paid Legal Services Legal memberships are in some ways like insurance products, and are REGULATED AS INSURANCE PRODUCTS in 15 states. The LEGAL or Identity Theft services or memberships are REGULATED to assure that THE BENEFITS for the price are in the public's best interests and are bonafide services.

Those who sell memberships in groups by payroll-deduction are often seeing enrollments and participation of 70 to 90+ percent. They are enrolling many while enrollers FOR OTHER COMPANIES are seeing few if any NEW enrollments or interest. WE ARE HAVING ENROLLERS FROM OTHER COMPANIES WHO DO GROUPS ASKING HOW TO BECOME PPLSI ASSOCIATES AND/OR BRING THEM INTO THEIR GROUPS AND SPLIT THE PROFITS IN APPROPRIATE WAYS.

Those who are captive agents are turning GREEN with ENVY, and BLUE with DEPRESSION from down sales.

I'd suggest that you work on your listening and comprehension skills. Avoid derogatory remarks that reflect worse upon yourself ... like childish remarks made by elementary school children.

THINK and BEHAVE as a SALES PROFESSIONAL. INVEST in YOURSELF by reading and listening to professionals such as Zig Ziglar and John C. Maxwell.

I've heard that salesman is formed from the meaning of "TO SERVE", according to a presentation by Zig Ziglar.

There are many jokes about car sales people and insurance agents who are CRUDE, RUDE, GREEDY, and childish.

There are so many of these jokes, because many are based upon TRUE OBSERVATIONS of BAD behavior by BAD sales persons.

Rather than give the comics more fuel for jokes, let us COME TOGETHER to HONOR our clients and prospects, give them EXCELLENT SERVICE BOTH before and AFTER the sale.

DISrespecting prospects, clients, and other sales people will create a NEGATIVE downward spiral for the sales profession.

The public will just see you as a cheap con artist who pitches whatever you can to get the most money with the LEAST AMOUNT OF EFFORT.

When you hear a JOKE about a sales person ask yourself 2 questions:
#1. Have I or those who I associate with done things that would cause those jokes to be told ???
#2. What have I or those I associate with DONE to correct the bad image of sales people as liars, thieves, con artists, slackers, drinkers, womanizers, etc. ???

Sales people are NOT trusted, liked, or respected by many.
They are disliked more than any other group of people, even politicians. Is there any wonder why ???

You can confirm that their impressions were right, or help change their opinions by being a professional sales person, and encouraging others to be professional sales persons too.

Sincerely,

Joe

You tell them joe. One day maybe we can meat up at the sizzler for a nice meal and a beer.

This back and forth stuff is pointless. Some s the benefit and some make jokes about PPL. So what? Why try to convince anyone who has no interest? As I pointed out before there are others who see the benefits of the plans and the company. As far as being an associate, the service works and the checks clear daily. When people show no interest sometimes it's best to just say "Thank You For Your Time.....And Move on....

Re: Is Pre-paid Legal Worth Offering In ADDITION to Any Type of Insurance?

You tell them Joe. One day maybe we can meet up at the sizzler for a nice meal and a beer.

Are you going to be in OKC, OK in March for the convention?

I'm just glad that we cleared up that PPLSI memberships are not add-ons, but separate products.

However, the most important thing is that we have recognized the importance of being professionals in our thinking and actions to clients, prospects, and other agents.

Those who are fuel for insurance and car salesman jokes will have a short period ... like a flash bulb.

I wish to say thanks to those who are behaving as professionals and increasing their skills and professionalism.

We can help our clients and prospects become INFORMED consumers, and then let them decide what best meets their insurance needs based upon the funds available for those purposes.

Good night ... gentlemen. Perhaps, as suggested, it is a wise idea to put this discussion to bed ... before the children wake up again and start making noise again.

Sincerely,

Joe

10 Reasons Why Pre-Paid Legal is a Necessity in Tough Times !!!

quote=GetInsurance;134082]Does anyone offer pre-paid legal as an add on to their existing base of customers? Lawyer insurance might be an easy up-sell to the individual market. Does anyone here do this with any success or is it just a waste of time?[/quote]

Tough economic times can bring out the worst in people and companies. They use false advertising, lies, and contracts and leases to TRAP THEIR VICTIMS.

More companies will NOT honor their warranties, exchanges, and refunds.

KOTV broke a news story about a CON man posing as a real estate agent to rent FORECLOSED Homes to UNsuspecting victims. in 48 HOURS until the sheriff deputies posts the 48 HOUR notice that they were going to be changing the locks !!!

Imagine, a husband and wife having to lose pay to quickly pack and move. You just paid your rent, but NOW you have to raise money to pay another month's rent and DEPOSITS, plus moving expenses !!!

The CON man was even living in a foreclosed home himself !!!

A Tulsa company had at least 48 properties, including apartment complexes that reportedly never made a mortgage payment. Hundreds of families had to move within 48 HOURS of the sheriff's notice to change the locks.

The greatest crime of the century is Identity theft. PPLSI and Kroll have the RESTORATION SOLUTION to this critical problem.

Sincerely,
Joe

10 Reasons Why Pre-Paid Legal is a Necessity in Tough Times !!!

by Aleshia Altizer

For over 35 years, Pre-Paid Legal has proven to be a strong company with a valuable product. Today, it is a fact that as our economy falters and our nation experiences tough economic times, the need for, “Justice for All” is more prevalent now than ever before. Here are 10 reasons why Pre-Paid Legal is no luxury; it is a fundamental product that people need right now:

1. You may want to contact your Provider Attorney about severance packages, whether you've experienced a job loss or not. As layoffs abound and businesses are desperate to cut-back, ensure your rights are protected by consulting your PPL Provider Attorney about such issues.

2. In tough times, don’t be intimidated by scare tactics. Know your rights, if you are being harassed by debt collectors, or any other business or person. If you get a letter full of intimidating legal jargon, or someone threatens legal action, call your Provider Attorney.

3. Big deals may be big rip-offs in a tough economy. If you buy faulty merchandise you could be the victim of a scam. Do you know what your rights are if you get stuck with a lemon? Did you know there are lemon laws that vary from state to state? Your Provider Attorney can let you know what these laws are, and help you outline a course of action.

4. Many face foreclosure in tough times. Even people in dire financial straights can benefit from a Pre-Paid Legal Membership. When times get tough and people need to know what options are available, the Pre-Paid Legal Provider Attorney is there to carefully and considerately walk a member through all the options.

5. Speeding tickets surge in tough economic times. The weakening economy has affected not just individuals, but entire communities as well. In need of money, these places are cracking down on speeders in an effort to generate revenue. Pre-Paid Legal Members can call their Provider Attorney and get advice on any matter, including traffic-related issues.

6. The Pre-Paid Legal Membership is ideal for military families. In tough times more and more people are finding job stability in the military. With Provider Law firms covering all 48 states and Hawaii, as soldiers move from one place to another, the membership moves with them. When soldiers ship out overseas, they take with them the peace of mind in knowing their family is covered by the membership should any legal issues arise.

7. Tough economic times = scammers paradise. Advanced free loans, debt repair, counterfeit checks, mortgage foreclosure “rescue,” are some of the biggest scams going around. Have your Pre-Paid Legal Attorney review your contracts before you sign your name to them. Legal review is a good way to detect potential scams.

8. Tough economic times have seen a surge in legal issues. making it harder to get an attorney, and harder to afford one. There is no struggling to find an available attorney, or getting stuck with a huge bill. Your monthly fee covers all your listed benefits, and you get the 25% discount on anything not otherwise listed.

9. Can you afford the unexpected? With a Pre-Paid Legal Membership, you have a low monthly fee. When you face an emergency, your membership provides trial time, consultation, contract reviews, and more at no additional charge. If an emergency arises and you don’t have a membership, you might find yourself doing without due to the high costs of legal counsel.

10. Coverage includes you, your spouse, and your kids! Wherever you go, whatever issues you encounter in these tough times, you are covered. So is your spouse, and so are your dependent children. Knowing if your teenager gets a speeding ticket, you have a number to call, and with Legal Shield, if any member of your family is detained by police or involved in a traffic accident and need assistance. Your attorney is there 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year!

Kind of like offering Amway with your Copay Select.

That will be $345 per month for your insurance. And $22 for the toothbrushes and mops.
Who needs toothbrushes when you can get mops?!:1wink:

I had PPL for awhile, was useful then, but daughter's an attorney now. :)
