Medicare Supplement GI Thread

California:

If a person already has Medigap insurance, they have 30 days of "open enrollment" following their
birthday each year when they may buy a new Medigap policy without a medical screening or a new waiting period. The new policy must have the same or lesser benefits as the old policy.

Michigan is NONE.

However, there are two carriers with a GI med supp product. BCBS Michigan has a GI Plan A and C but it does not pay commissions. They basically don't want anyone to know about it because they're forced to offer it and can't raise the price and I hear they are losing about $180 Million per year on it. When 2014 rolls around, BCBSM will no longer be tax-exempt or a provider of last resort so there could be some big changes.

Also Humana has a GI Plan C. The rates are a little high for 65+ but not insane. However, for under 65 the rates are astronomical.
