I'm both a licensed insurance agent, and a licensed private investigator. I've also owned and sold a successful surety bail bond agency. In my experience, any new agent will have some hurdles to overcome when seeking appointment with any carrier worth being appointed for, that is not unique to your situation. The fact that your conviction isn't financial related crime seems like it would be a big plus. But living in a way to avoid future criminal convictions (sounds like you're doing that) and expungement should be the ultimate goal. For the hijacker (lol)... I would think that anything major on your record or background that would indicate an irresponsibility with financial matters would be disqualifying.
