PDP Drops the Premium Ball

UPDATE . . .

I pressed my client for more information and discovered he was confused by the IRMAA deduction from his SSA benefit. He thought the $12.40 deduction was the drug plan premium and never asked why it was $5 more than the PDP premium I quoted him.

It seems that Aetna/SilverScript did indeed send him a bill which he ignored since both of us were under the impression premiums would be deducted from his SSA. The app submitted clearly indicated he was receiving SSA benefits and it was his desire to have premiums deducted from SSA.

Aetna has no explanation for why they ignored the application and sent a paper bill. According to my client the only other correspondence came a few weeks ago when they said his coverage was being terminated for non-payment.

Now he will be stuck with a 14 month LEP due to no fault of his own other than confusion.
