Root Insurance - Anyone?

Anyone out there know what underlying insurer that Root Auto Insurance uses?

When I first saw their ads, I just assumed it was on some larger insurers contracts. But looking into it further - I do not know.

Is it possible that they are the underlying auto insurer? With No Financial Strength Rating?

I have checked out Root on Nerdwallet. Many complaints. Possible class action suit is in the works. They are using the old bait and switch tactics along with lowballing auto values after a collision.

I think its just nuts selling unrated entities.
