Has anyone used "Prospect" a.k.a startaninsuranceagency.com? This looks like a good alternative to a cluster like smartchoice/siaa because they seem focused on developing YOUR book of business. You pay a monthly fee (+/- $300) + 10% of commissions from direct carrier. The $300 per month seems like nothing when you consider that you get access to agency management system/ratingsoftware/etc. If you're doing with them currently, I'd love to hear your feedback!

Their pictures look like stock photos and not real people. Off putting even if it is them.

Also, it seems like all you get is a promise to help you get direct appointments. Clusters actually get you appointments, through them.

Clusters charge what they do because they are delivering a valuable commodity. They get you appointments with carriers you otherwise would not be able to secure on your own. Also, if the cluster is run properly, you get bonuses and profit sharing you otherwise would not get on your own.

Because you won't. They "promise" to help you get access. So probably help with business plan, what to say, how to approach them, etc. All for $300 a month.

hey guys, thanks for your replies. As txinsuranceagent stated, they do show the list of "managed carriers" if you click on the state you're looking to do business in.

They say that the agency management system that's included for free is a $250 per month value. Do you think that's a fair estimate? Also, they include the Semcat Comparative Rater for free. They quote that as a $100 per month value. What do you think?

As for the website, I think it looks pretty nice (and easy to understand) compared to SIAA and Smart Choice. However, if you click on the about us section, the pictures above the "growth team" do look like stock don't they? Heck, the hyper link ends in "pretty photo". lol.
