The 'Corrupt Agency Model?'

Watch out for those call centers too, especially in Florida....so many unlicensed agents selling too...I cannot believe in todays day and age none of these rooms get shut down....especially the medicare rooms...how do the carriers not realize they are cold calling the do not call list? Telling them they are from the Medicare Enrollment Center? How in 2018 are these places not being shut down or these uplines not losing their contracts?

This is exactly where i am (Fla.). Seriously considering moving to a more civilized area (if it exist). YEP...i've interviewed at a few places and some of them just give me 'The Willies.' AND they are following the same model 'churn and burn um.'

Corrupt agency model, soulless slave, and rape. Pretty strong beliefs and harsh words for a self-described newbie.

Yes Sir...sure is. That's why i used 'descriptive words' to instill what its like (where i am anyway). They will get you signed on, and tie up your license and handcuff you for a contracted period of time where you can't work ANYWHERE ELSE (or go on your own). Do a search on 'getting Releases" on the forum. If that isn't a Corrupt Model, i don't know what else to call it. Car Salesman can quit one company and go work for another. Not so with selling Med Sups by phone (not with these groups down here).

If you are in an agency situation that is truly like you described, it is your fault. If you are not, why are you opining about it?

Thank you Mr.Vena.
No...i haven't signed up with any of these companies (i was smart enough to tell them 'give me a few days to think it over.' Then comes the hard close 'Well, that spot won't be open for long and thanks for coming by, don't let the door hit you in the a**, etc). These are not fair business-men, these are sharks (i'm talking about). They don't care about your future or your family. When you research them online, you learn they are fly-by-night orgs, or lots of warnings from former workers.

I wasn't 'opining' bout anything. Its not 'an opinion'...these are FACTS. Just ask around. I know (from reading) that you are a GROUP SALES specialist. You are a fortunate man to be in your position. I know you worked hard to get there. But the above remarks are not an 'Opinion.' This is what is being offered to agents with little experience and BOB in the Med Sup market where i am.

Please understand, I am not trying to be a smart-a**, but i'm not giving an 'Opinion.' (read above). I'm trying to find 'A Solution!' (that's all).

Thank you.

It always has been the wild wild west out there and it still is. Not likely its ever going to change.

Thanks Jimmy....i'm getting that now.

Of course you are opining. A fact is undisputeable by definition. You are saying that all of these organizations are the same, and that is just not true. I realize what they do, and to some extent I agree with what you are saying, but it is not true in every situation and for every person.

Hi Friends,

How's does one avoid working in the 'Corrupt Ins Agency Model?'

What i mean by this is the following;

What i've found out 'newbe' time working as a LH agent, ARE Insurance Agencies running phone rooms who want to 'Rope' in newly licensed agents (get them to sign 'non competes' (no release) and EXPECT the agt to 'work as their Phone Jockey' forever). When questioned, they will confess you can get released after 6 mths if you are not happy---. (so basically, you are locked out of the business til then).

I see these ads all the time and MOSTLY Selling Senior Insurance Plans (MAPD, Med Sups, Final Expense, etc).

This MODEL, basically turns a worthy person into a Soul-less Slave. I see this all over the place and 'MAN is it discouraging.' (Brokerage Co's., will keep your commissions, not pay you (when and if you leave)---most agents leave within a few months, or maybe last 1 yr (in best case scenarios).

What CAN an agent do to work within a group of other agents to gain experience? (without getting 'Raped?') I like the idea of working in team environment. I don't really like the lone wolf gig (for me, its more fun when you have team mates or co-workers, partners, SUPPORT MEMBERS, etc).

I know there are pros and cons to everything in life but how does one avoid getting into this trap?

What's the Solution?

Please help...

Thanks for your constructive input...

I've been working with agents for years and find the better agents have no need for an agency. The products aren't that hard to learn. Most agencies don't provide much in terms of quality leads or competent sales training.

The solution is to build your own,low cost, lead generation system. Get real busy, real fast and you won't have any need to be part of an agency. You'll start making money quickly. Once your established, get a junior agent and help them become successful. Successful people attract other successful people. I've helped many people on this very same path and have watched this story repeat itself many times.

Maybe not ALL, but the one's that i've experienced are just as described.

Here's an example of what i'm talking about.

(that's a link to a conversation about getting releases)

If your employer is doing shady business (or for whatever reason you want to go elsewhere), in many cases, very difficult to move.
