If you want to give vTiger a try I can get you an installation setup so you can play with it and see if it's a good fit. I have to warn you though, it's practically free.

I used ACT for years. A year or so ago I had some computer issues and I could no longer get into it no matter what I tried. I used an Excel spreadsheet for awhile but it really did not meet my needs and I wanted to go to something cloud based. I now use and have been happy with (Web Based CRM Software, Contact Management Software - BigContacts) after trying out several other online database programs.
