What insurance company is this?

Policy number: Q04530019R

A commercial van hit my car, called 911. Two days later i got the report and the name of the insurance company is not on there. Only the policy number and vin number.

Is it possible to find out what insurance company is it just with the policy number?

This happened in NYC in the city.

Usually not. I know Erie policies often begin with a Q, but that is by far a shot in the dark. I'd check with the police department and see if they have the information for the company.

Next time, try to gather that info yourself at the time of the accident if you can.

But since that is done.

You can call and ask, the company may tell you who their insurance is. It would be stupid not to, but it happens. You can file a claim on your policy if you have collision coverage. And finally you can send a demand letter to the company and/or take them to court.
