So, I recently opened an agency and have about 200-300 clients (280,000-300,000 book). My book is primarily P&C.

I know the basics of asking clients for referrals, talking to small car dealerships, and leaving business cards...I've even purchased a few leads here and there (we all know how they go...), I know to talk to lending agencies, mortgage lenders, etc. I have access to Progressive (just auto), Safeco, GMAC, and Foremost. Have I just not done these things enough?

What can I do that will provide real results? What do you say when you walk into another business and ask for referrals?

My P&C buddies all swear by a closed networking group. Its the most bang for your buck (and time!).
