Unions and White House Strike Deal on Taxing Insurance

From Lori Montgomery at the Washington Post:

The deal would temporarily exempt union health plans from a significant surtax on unusually generous health policies plans, giving union leaders time to negotiate new contracts, according to sources familiar with the talks. They spoke on condition of anonymity to avoid affecting ongoing negotiations. Additional details of the deal were not immediately available.

The so-called Cadillac tax is a key source of financing for a proposal to dramatically expand health coverage to the uninsured. But it is also an important tool for reining in skyrocketing health care costs, and President Obama has insisted that it be included in the package."

Curious how long "temporarily" is? I've heard they'll delay until 2017 while Union negotations happen. Sounds like a sweet deal for Union but potentially harmful to small business and older workers who foot the tab in the meantime.

And lets not forget the largest sector in which Union Enrollment is increasing is in the Gorvernment Sector!

The headline on this thread is everything thats wrong with Washington summed up in one statement!

It amazes me that they have become so open about it now. This, along with numerous other "circumstances" throughout the history of this bill are giving Americans a feel for the "true" Washington that we have allowed to develop.

The real question is will the congressmen(women) receive more in campaign contributions next election?
Contributions rise significantly= bribery
Contributions level/small rise= extortion by the unions

Only time will tell.
