Yet Another Extension

This administration is a bunch of complete idiots.

So they give an extension to the end of the month and it takes the insurance companies 2 to 3 weeks to get ID cards and policies out to subscribers.

New enrollees will flood the insurance companies with phone calls about where their stuff is, claims, benefits, etc, etc, etc.

Wait until all of these people find out they have to pay for coverage in January and they didn't get an ID card until February 1st-most people I speak with think that without an ID card they aren't covered.

What a fuster cluck this next month will be for those of you who have been doing apps on the exchange.

I wish I had not just deleted an article in my company email from either benefit pro or the insurance journal, but it said the insurer's will not go a long with the administration is now asking, it is just too risky.

NY's exchange now has a banner saying "Sign up today for coverage effective February 1st".

Looks like the extensions are done, lets see how many of these ~2million private plan enrollees pay on time and how many of the ~4 Million new Medicaid recipients manage to actually complete the process.

And if that works, we get to address doctor shortages! Medicaid already has that problem, a few million more patients and doctors leaving in droves can't help.

On Tuesday afternoon, the administration said it would work with people who try to enroll by the deadline but fail to finish the process. "[W]e still may be able to help you get covered as soon as January 1," health officials said.

Sign-ups surge ahead of Obamacare deadline - Dec. 24, 2013

December 13, 2016

How about this year, oh wise Somarco? Is an enrollment extension to 12/31 for a 1/1/2017 effective date in the offing??

I thought I saw something in another thread somewhere that indicated that all current enrollees who did not reenroll by Dec 15 would automatically be reenrolled between Dec 16 and Dec 31. (That was preceeded by discussions about difficulties in getting enrollments cancelled.)

Can't say.

Not my circus. Not my monkeys.

I forgot.. You fled U.S.S. ObamaCare when she first started sinking.

You're right. And those who are in discontinued companies and plans will be automatically enrolled into "something" by our wise government, in a huge HHS bitch file on 12.16.2016.

From Healthcare.gov:

Marketplace batch auto re-enrollments (BAR) will go into effect after December 15. The following returning Marketplace consumers will be auto re-enrolled:

1. Individuals who received coverage in 2016 through participating issuers, but who have not selected 2017 coverage by December 15. Re-enrollment in their issuer’s plan for 2017 may be different from the previous year, depending on plan availability.
2. Individuals currently enrolled in plans through issuers that will not be participating in the Marketplace for 2017. Consumers will be matched with an alternate plan from a different issuer.
