The target premiums can be very different from one carrier to the next in comparison to the premium that must be paid to keep the guarantee in force too.
 
It depends on the company. Sometimes you get 90%, sometimes you get 80%. The problem (as stated before) is that the payout is manipulated with targets. Sometimes the target on the same death benefit can be 20% difference. 80% could hypothetically pay more than 90% because of the different target.

Just wrote one with Reliastar that was a 1035 exchange. Commission was 95% of target premium. As others have explained, there are definitely variables among carriers.

My recommendation is to just do what is best for the client and the commissions will work themselves out.
 
Hartford will pay on excess from a lump sum or 1035. Their GUL illustrates well when a lump sum is put in too.
