guy says he needs immediate bound coverage today, that his current carrier lapsed a day ago and he's shut off for the weekend from doing business until he gets insured.

says last years premium was 75k and had 11k in total losses.

My captive carrier has any tow truck business as ineligible so whoever wants it I will call the customer back and warm refer them to you.

Call his current carrier and pay the bill! Get his policy reinstated.

Unless he has loss runs, its doubtful anyone can bind this coverage today. Worth asking, but doubtful. This is especially true since it sounds like he does impound towing (i.e., tows cars after accidents, for the city/state, etc).

I don't write in Texas, but as a P&C agent, I'd be very leary of a tow truck company who let his policy lapse and then suddenly needs coverage today. I know it happens. May not be anything to it, but his best bet is to reinstate his current policy.

Dan's right, call the incumbent carrier and get it reinstated. Write a letter of no-loss as well to show that the insured is good to go.
