FMO that Handles UHC Medicare Products

Hi Sam,

Brand new guy here, sort of, re-entering the life & annuity business after some time and am seriously looking at Gordon Marketing as a starting place for an IMO/FMO . You recommend them? I have seen they have quite a wide scope of companies they deal with along with much training. Good points....bad points, any information I may not get directly from them?

Thanks,

Marcusg

We do do businesss in about 43 states
Do you think that anybody really cares that you"do do" (is that like doodoo?) business in "about" 43 states? Is it 43 states or isn't it?
...and are one on Mutual of Omaha's top 10 FMO's
So what? You know Marlin Perkins personally?
We are a family business and I am the 4th generation in the insurance business.
That's very nice, and I'm sure YOU think it's important, but what competitive advantage does that give ME?

Please advise on best FMO in NC for UHC

Dewey, Cheatom & Howe , Ameri Life and Kingdom but just to be safe I would go with the first one.

Seriously though you will find out the most MA FMO's lose interest in you as soon as you sign the contract. Some FMO's supposedly have a lead program but I have no experience with any of those.Since all the FMO's pay the same on MA business I would consider a more established FMO with enough staff so that it's not to difficult speak to a live person for those occasional times that that you have a total brain fart when you are at a clients home and it is really helpful to be able to reach out and get immediate help. Also nice if they have an easy to navigate website that makes available PDF's of all the forms you may need at a moments notice and als oan FMO with a website that offers a free quote engine. ie Ritter . If it's feasible I prefer to use a FMO that is local or in the same state and therefore more familiar with the MA landscape of the market I work in and also an FMO who doesn't close early on Friday

Abstain from Neishloss and Gordon. Terrible greedy IMOs. They're so typical and definitely belong in the same category as greedy FMOs IMOs with all the promises and nope- just gimme your contract, (cough) .....'agent who is on the phone? Oh I'm too busy sitting on my arse to talk to her/him.... '
Support you say? If you want that- don't pick them.

My FMO / GA Suggestion List:

Senior Marketing Specialists - DISCLAIMER - I do training / marketing for them...so you get me for some training...that can be deemed as good or bad :)

Ritter Insurance Marketing

Word and Brown (you do have to assign commissions, but they are upfront about it and will release)

Todd King

Chris Westfall

Some other ones I have heard great things about (but I do not have any experience with):
Agent pipeline
Health Choice One

FMO's can be like cars - some may work for you, and not others. I have no use for a two seat car since I have kids, but that may be what you are looking for.

My advice - write down what you want your FMO to do for you (training, case placement assistance, back end office support, technology, etc) and then interview them. Talk to a handful then make a decision. Remember they are all trying to sell you on themselves, as they do not know who their next big producer will be. They in a sense will be your partner, so work with the one or two that you would want to partner with.

Hope this helps.

I deal with Neishloss all the time and I can tell you that you are just wrong! They are some of the best out there.

I don't know that much about Gordon Marketing other than Next Generation Financial Group just merged with them. I wouldn't touch NGFG with a 100 foot pole!

Run away from UNH. Quick. or use as a last resort. Your Welcome.

(They get to that realization much later...)

As to my recommendation for United Healthcare, I would go with Sylvia Gordon (at Gordon Marketing). She definitely has their ear, as they were the top NMO in the country again last year.

I see Sylvia at all of the Medicare events across the country and she was a presenter at last year's Med Supp Conference in Scottsdale.

My favorite contact there is Joe Morris, an actual writing agent, and his direct number is: (800)388-8342 x 335. He has many creative marketing methods, too.

Gordon Marketing puts on an awesome event before AEP every year where they go over all of the companies, plans, and have top company officials there to answer questions for the upcoming season. I attend this each year and it's a great opportunity to meet the carrier reps, directly.

This is from their 2011 event..

And about the 2013 meeting there..

I attempted to put my UHC contract with Gordon Marketing but it took them 5 days or more to email me a link to contracting. That was enough for me to never talk to them again. If they are them hat slow at sending an email I couldn't imagine then being of any help if I actually had a question or issue or needed an app...

Thank you Chris Westfall for the kind words!

All the posts are greatly appreciated. It's refreshing to see so many varying replies and a show of loyalty to your existing FMO/IMO relationships. That's important!

While we can all agree on this....Most of the FMOs/IMOs offer the same or similar carriers, comp schedules, ideas, tools, etc. And, most of the FMOs/IMOs are doing what they can to support their agents in this ever changing marketplace.

That being said, if you've ever had a bad experience with Gordon Marketing, give me a call personally. Having been in the business 21+ years, I can tell you that Gordon has evolved into a strong quality National FMO.

Nevertheless, no FMO/IMO is perfect. However, what makes Gordon Marketing unique is that we actually travel the country and train agents. Last year alone, we were in 20 states hosting training seminars on the Senior market, PPACA-Health Reform, Life & Annuities, Compliance and CE training. Plus, we host our annual Life & Annuity Expo in March and the annual AEP Kickoff in August. (Check out: GordonMarketing on the web)

In an age of technology and hiding behind an office phone, desktop computer, iPad or smart phone; Gordon Marketing invests their time and money in training and growing agencies. Our success is seeing agents grow their business with the newest products during the biggest time of change our industry has seen in the last 40 years.

I've never seen a better time to be an agent than now. Yes, our way of doing business is changing; but change is good. With change comes an opportunity. It's not for the weak. The smart agents win.

Get strong! Get smart! Find an FMO/IMO that fits your needs and enjoy a great career.

If you have any questions, feel free to email.

Make it a great day!
