How Does Moving Affect Your Business?

Haha service work every 2 weeks?? That's nuts. The only service work I have to do outside of AEP is the occasional phone call.

Axeman- I lived in orlando until just this past December when I moved to Jax. So I'm in the same boat.

A couple of issues. 1) referrals. I don't let them know I've moved so I have to schedule a time to make the 2 hour drive. 2) AEP. I haven't had to do it yet but I'm going to have to rent a hotel a couple weeks at the end of the year to try and see my Polk county clients. 3) when a current client calls you about their MAPD plan and want you to come out and ask you a few questions. I just tell them that we can most likely do this over the phone, what's the issue. If they push more I'll just let them know I've moved and we can try to schedule a time next time I'm out that way. But it hasn't got to that point yet.

Where ya moving to?

1) referrals. I don't let them know I've moved so I have to schedule a time to make the 2 hour drive Letting them know I moved was going to be my next question. Is there a reason you never told clients you moved? I imagine, the only advantage would be to avoid any cans of worms being opened up?

2) AEP. I haven't had to do it yet but I'm going to have to rent a hotel a couple weeks at the end of the year to try and see my Polk county clients
I was thinking the same thing for AEP, renting a hotel room to work out of.

3) when a current client calls you about their MAPD plan and want you to come...

with Current clients, most of the time I do service work over the phone or via email. even much of my AEP work is also done via email. For the most part, the only time I am F2F is at the initial sale.

We are looking into moving to Citrus Springs/Dunnellon area. Clermont is beginning to get too crowded for us, and with all the growth its only going to get worse

Didn't mean just service work but if he is still getting referrals from where he lives now it's not a big deal to schedule a full day or two to write new business and catch up with any that may need service work in that area. I don't drive the 2 hours just to change checking account or something but if it means rewriting a few Med Sups to a lower rate I have no problem doing it.

Damn I didn't know you were in clermont. I was actually in Ocoee, not orlando so maybe 15 min from you.

To answer your #1, I just don't bring it up that I've moved. I mean if they asked I would tell them but it doesn't matter if I'm still willing to help.

Citrus County is the perfect place to be for what you do. There's around 35% of the population 65 and over. Very safe place too and close to major metro areas if you want to do more than just fish and relax.

Good luck in your move.

Do you think both of them will leave you?

Rick

They'll probably try, but I found some out of work lobbyists I plan on hiring as my 'Retention' staff…amazing how many of these people are available in the D.C. area…
Though I will be sad to have to let go of my current Retention specialist out of Indiana; he's been feelin' too much of the Bern lately.

Most of my clients are 2 hrs away to begin with. Just keep your old number.

I plan to move from Mo to Maui in a few yrs to care for my mother. If I lose them all I can just live off the sea, but I'll lose even 10%.

I've moved a few times (within the same state) and never really lost a client because of that.

I've kept a local number in the area where I have most of my clients-Google voice allows you to port a local number for a one time $20 charge and forward it to your new phone so it's really seamless.

During OEP I spend a couple of weeks in that area seeing whoever needs some attention, other than that it's kind of a no brainer to move.

Don't mean to hijack this thread... but, I'm going to be dealing with this in about six months too. I more concerned about switching my licenses between states.

I'll be going from non-resident licensed in one state, to resident. And going non-res for the state I'm leaving.

That has me little perplexed. Will this be seamless. Will I be able to write business all throughout this transition?

I did this and it seemed like it was going to be very difficult, I could not get straight answers from either DOI when I was trying to prepare. I was nervous, However when I started the process it went very smooth and quickly with no interruption in buis

I will say this though, I found out later depending on the state from and to, there could be a question of Continued ED being sufficient, In my case it was.
