2011 Medicare Deductibles Shocking News

Universal Health Care sent out an email today on the 2011 amounts. I thought this would be helpful. Here is the main part of the email:

Since there was no increase in Social Security for 2011, the Medicare Part B premiums are frozen at the levels Medicare Beneficiaries were paying in 2010. For people who are new to Medicare in 2011, the Part B premium will increase to $115.40/month, a 4.4% increase. Thus, there are 3 different amounts for Part B premium which is dependent upon when the person first started their Part B (2011 enrollees, 2010 enrollees and 2009 and prior enrollees).

The three different levels are:
  • $96.40
  • $110.50, and/or
  • $115.40
The Part B deductible will increase from $155/calendar year in 2010 to $162/calendar year in 2011.

The Part A deductible will increase from $1100/benefit period in 2010 to $1,132/benefit period in 2011.

By the way, why was this news "shocking?"

Premium and deductibles go up every year. It will be "shocking" when the premium finally hits all the people on Medicare when they receive an increase in their social security.

People will go from $96 to $120 (est.) or more.

Bingo!

Rick get's this!

When, and not if, the CPI goes up then there will be a whole lot of hurt.

For his astute answer; Rick will receive the Agent Forum Agent-of-the-Week Award

I've warned all my people via newsletter that the "hold harmless" is not harmless. One day they will get a COLA and it will be eaten up by the "catch up" in part B premium.

Believe me, I'll make sure to put the blame 100% on Obama's head.
