What do want to specialize in?
If you want to specialize in the senior market a captive mutual may not be a great choice.
It is not so much the company but the office you are affiliated with.
What is your experience level?
Maybe attend a NAIFA meeting in your area and speak with some of the agents.

Sadly, I don't know that the locals even exist anymore. They ended all locals in Michigan & merely a State organization along with $800 yr membership that has mostly become solely a political action lobbying entity

I don't think Met life or GE Genworth have sold individual life insurance for the last 5- 10 years

LTC with GE, Met in the 90's. I read Met surpassed many in life polices last year in one article and that you can be indy. Thx
