Considering a Career Change into Insurance... Question About Commissions

As an Insurance agent, your job is never "9-5" Expect to work 12-15 hours a day and on weekends. Your prospects are home on the weekends and evenings. That's when you contact them for sales. It takes 5 years to build a book of business to pay you career wages. There are stupid clients and frustrating clients. There are the good, bad and ugly clients. The stress is still high, just different than what you are doing. Why do I do this? Because I am a people person. I love to talk, listen and help people with lowering their monthly bills. But the pay is fair in the 1st few years. Once you have exhausted your friends and family for business, you need to get out and meet people everyday. Make a goal of 5 sales a day. Don't go home until it is done. A regular "9-5" job is a place where you sit in a call center all day on a day shift. And even that will be 7am - 3pm. It is not owning your own office.
