For those who have a decent sized book, how do you personally manage them?

Well I actually got the idea from you haha

You know I expect royalties, right? I take PayPal .. .

I am glad it is working for you. It took me a while to find my "voice" with the newsletter format. It was never intended to sell products but rather to inform and educate clients about Medicare.

Quite simply, it works.

I looked at a number of newsletters before jumping in. Very few "connected" with the intended audience and the information was too general. Others were too pushy, almost like begging for folks to buy something every month.

You are doing something terribly wrong. (I do not do any DSP, so I don't know if that is very different).
If emails/newsletters/BD cards, etc is your thing, that should be a turnkey system, where you don't spend any time on that.

Existing clients- should be no more than 1-2 hours a day responding to emails and telephone calls. That is it. Again, 1-2 hours a day max. Are you spending more time than that? If so, please detail. I will make an assumption- no one on this thread spends more than 2 hours a day servicing existing clients (Non AEP and No DSP). Correct me if I am wrong.

You should have six hours a day to pursue whatever you want to - new biz, marketing strategies, golf, etc.

You just said the key words . You don’t work dsnp’s . 95% of my calls are dsnp’s/lis . Some flipped by phone reps no matter how much you touch them . They’re very uneducated and always wanting more more . I’ve accepted this as i grew my book big in near record time . I could get massive leads. But the last 1 yr plus I’ve been diversifying much more .

Some things I do:
1. I have about 15 standardized emails that I copy and paste and make minor modifications. Someone has a question about foreign travel? Standard email with an attachment. Less than a minute. IRMAA question or whatever- Same. STANDARDIZE YOUR EMAILS
2. To repeat/somewhat modify what SShafran- Time Management. My phone goes straight to voicemail. I am not having incoming calls interupt my work flow. I respond to voicemails three times a day-9, 12, 5. If I respond to a VM with a VM, my VM is informing client to either leave a very detailed VM for me that I can answer a question or either telling them to schedule an appt- I am not going to go back and forth with a client all day long. My scheduled calls with new clients are all batched up in a small time period. After 20 seconds of chit chat we are all business. Oh, and 99% of my client contacts are over phone, not in person.
3. This approach is not for everyone...I only do Medicare.(OK, a real little bit of dental if I am forced to). I am a specialist. I do not waste my time on crap that does not produce income, I am not a jack of all trades.
4. I limit my carriers. I have 3 carriers for MAPD, 2 for Med Sup and 3 for D. I am not wasting my time on other carrier B.S. and this makes tracking book of business/commissions a breeze.
5. I do not chase after business.

Don,
I am completely ignorant with DSP's. Agents that I know who work, really work DSP's do quite well. I just don't and that business is totally foreign to me.

And how in the world did you ever make any money at first. I have 10+ carriers in my area I have to have.

I never had 10+ carriers. I am not that smart to keep track of all those plans, and my patience would run quite thin. In my area, one MAPD carrier would be sufficient, three is more than enough. For me, no need to have more than 2 carriers for Med Sup. I am not going to chase the low cost plan, nor do I want a client that does that. My biz is probably different than yours- All my leads are very warm, I am not chasing after clients.

And i do as well as any agent in the country i assure you . This wasn’t about how much money one makes . This was about how much work dsnp’s are to keep on the books .
