Help me out if I'm wrong fellas, the reason Canada is swamped, is they have no co-pays? So when little Johnny has a sniffle, it cost Moma nothing at the doctor's office?
I wonder if she'd wait another day or two if she had to lay out $25.00. And also if there'd be a few more seats empty in the waiting room.

Let's see, today the National Park Association (whatever the federal park people are called) are threatening to take over the California State Parks. Only if they are shutdown to public access. Seems like a good trade to me, but, it won't fly for some reason.
Unions are getting their raises
UAW in Fremont is up in arms over GM backing out of NUMMI (a joint Toyota / GM car production plant). GM is leaving the 25 year old agreement with the old GM.
The local mass transit train system, BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) raised their rates today, but they are going out on strike anyway.
They still won't fix the potholes on the street
There are more metering lights being installed. Also, more red light cameras, to help bring in revenue.
Police are out in force writing relatively minor tickets, to help offset revenue....
Oh, hang on, you wanted new programs. These are just recycled old ones to save money / grow revenue.

The California DMV which was being furloughed on what appeared to be random Fridays ended up beefing up their online transaction ability. Turns out, people like that. Now people are asking why we have so many DMV employees and not more being done online.
The democrats are complaining that California can't be held hostage to a 'few' republicans, that we must raise taxes. They forget, about a month ago we had a HUGE tax increase. This has caused more companies to close or leave the state. Unemployment has gone up, which doesn't help the higher income tax revenue or the higher sales tax revenue.

I guess I'll have to say almost nothing new.
It's a shame. The golden state is becoming part of the rust belt.

What history book are you reading?
There are tons of socialist systems (i.e.-France and many other European economies) that have been around a lot longer than the USA, and have socialist systems.
I don't endorse socialism, but your statement is silly.
