Thanks for your reply, FishnChips, and I'm glad to hear you have moved on to better things.
I left my agency staff position a few years ago, realizing it was a dead end. I've explored the idea of working as an independent agent on the life & health side, but decided to move on to other things. I don't see me survivng if I tried to start my own personal lines P&C agency.
I have my own website providing consumers with information on auto. home, & life insurance, and it generates income through advertising. It's going to be tough going for the next year or two, but if it keeps growing like it has over the last 18 months, I should be okay.
