No Pretend Exchange Advertising in California

I may have mentioned this in one of the CA HBEX posts in this forum. If not, California AB 1761 has been signed into law and prohibits agents or agencies from creating look-a-like advertising or in any way pretending to be the California Health Benefits Exchange.

When do you find out about qualifications to sell the exchange?

QHPs are supposed to finalized by end of May. I would expect sometime in the summer prior to the July 1 mass advertising by the HBEX that we would have some clarification on the agent certification process.

I hope it's available to agents online. I suspect it may require 2-days of in-class training or at least part of the 2-day rookie program.

As to commissions, IOEP starts 10/1/13 so likely carriers will wait until September to reveal agent compensation structure.

On the commission for the Federal Exchange I have heard rumors it might be $12 per contract per month.

Not what I heard... I heard 300 bills per person per year with kiddies going to Medicaid... If kids on main policy lower comp... Guess we will see

What is your source? Mine was a carrier rep.

I would be happy to take $300 per person per year. So they would design it to look like a medicare comp.
