I too am a newbie on here. I'm a long time P&C underwriter looking to become an independent agent in N. Carolina.

I'll probably start out working from home, possibly doing as much online as possible. Any advice to give?

Thanks.

P and c is hard from home since so many carriers require an office. North Carolina is a whole mother subject.

You better be prepared to shed your underwriter culture if you wanna write business. Welcome to the real world & you shall soon realize how many agents you've screwed over the years once you're on the front lines writing business.

There was a big push 3 or 4 years ago from an insurance company where you can work from home as an agent. Seems like it had Ally in the name, but it's not Ally Auto or Ally Financial.

Ideally, I'd go back to underwriting, but can't seem to find a job locally.
