please help! I'd like to know is there any kind of practice of insuring sports betting and gambling risks. If there is can you provide any useful information about calculating risks, insurance premium etc.

Yes, its called handicapping.

Better yet, just don't bet.

Let's just say there is gambling insurance. How would you pay your premium if you are flat broke?

It is illegal... simple as that

Most savvy bettors (known as "punters" in England btw) will employ a hedging strategy as the spread/price/money line moves. That's the "insurance" these "sharps" (aka-smart money) employ to manage risk.

Are you asking about this as the bettor, or as the sports book and casino? Completely different questions. No such insurance for the bettor and probably not for the sports book or casino. But then maybe there is, who knows.

only insurance I ever knew about on sports betting, was Nicki Santoro from Casino. If you won, he wouldn't pay you. If you lost, he'd collect...Great insurance policy for the Tangier's

His name in real life was Anthony "The Ant" Spilotro. True story, my parents grew up with him in Chicago. At 5'2" he was feared by everyone that knew who he was. He was an absolutely great and ruthless fighter. And of course...completely psychotic. Pesci played his character perfectly.

I am betting just for fun, so I am not having this problem. Why would I risk placing a bet that costs a lot? After all, there are not many people who are able to win a huge amount of money out of bets. The majority of them end up in bankruptcy, so it's not worth it. I have a friend who has lost his house because he got addicted to betting and he simply couldn't stop. I don't want to end up like this. Betting is supposed to be something fun. You gather with your friends, talk, have a laugh and place some bets. That's the ideal situation if you are asking me
