Stop Calling Receptionists "Gatekeepers"!

Prior to my life as an insurance agent I was a headhunter for medical professionals and I called on this one Imaging Center for years trying to do business with them. I always got the gatekeeper and over a period of time I earned their business and made alot of money off that account simply because I treated the gatekeeper with respect, and she treated me the same.

Gatekeepers are just doing their job but if you treat them as you would like to be treated, they will respond in kind.

The gatekeeper has two fears. They will put a call through to the boss when they should have taken a message. They will not put a call through that should have been received by the boss. One can get the gatekeeper on their side and see the boss, while not ruffling any feathers.
