Has anyone run into issues regarding this program while using it with an MA plan?

Regarding Veterans benefits, I know we can sell them a Medigap or an MA plan (as long as they don't have Tricare, just regular VA coverage). I recently met with a veteran who has regular VA coverage and would like to put him on a MA so he can see his non-VA PC doctor but he told me about this plan the VA has and I don't want to do anything that may cause him financial difficulty.

The plan is called the Veterans Choice Program (see attached flyer) which allows veterans to receive non-VA health care from approved providers in the community. He recently went to a local specialist using this program and has other appointments and possibly surgery in the next few months with him. Both this specialist and his PC accept the MA plan and I'm concerned that if he gets this that the VA may not cover it then and he'll be responsible for co-pays at the hospital, the dr, etc. I'm not sure in this case if the VA or the HMO would be the primary payer?

And I did reach out to my upline and am awaiting a response back, but thought I'd check here as well.

If he is eligible for the program, I'm pretty sure the VA will pick up the tab. He should make sure he fits all the criteria. When all else fails, call that 800 number on there and ask them how a MA Plan will affect him.

You're probably going to end up leaving this one alone.
