Where Have All The Doctors Gone?

Agreed I have to been at this(30 plus)for too long to go along with the sky is falling comments from wingnut youthful agents. ACA outrage on this forum comes from instinctive partisanship and understandable fear of losing commissions. I made great$$$ on workers comp and malpractice commissions both went to pool rates in my state . Yes I was pissed off and scared! I moved on and found other policies to represent if agents want to stay in the trade best start looking!

What about those of us who really sold little health insurance and still think Obamacrap is just that?

BTW, I think Bush designed the ACA, the Corvair, and invented child porn.

Just for the record, and for correct facts, the last good president we had was Ike.

This is amazing & sad. Guess which profession is now #1 on the Suicide list...

The List: Top 10 Professions with High Suicide Rates

Most likely, the physician suicide rate would be lower if ObamaCare had never existed.
:skeptical:
Sold malpractice for a long time had a lot of one on ones with a lot of docs.Trust me aca is the least of their troubles. They have a trade culture of unthinkable debt, greed matched with a slow 25 year decline in income. They have the inside track on all maladies and know the road that awaits you. I don't, doubt that a small %% sometimes look to the roof.

My take is that if you voiced the same level of outrage about the aca ,the current POS ,new handout programs as previous middle and upper class handouts(part b,c,d-flood ins-medicaid nursing home -all volunteer army no draft--yada yada) then you would have STOOD OUT BIG TIME ON THE RIGHTOUS RIGHT!!!!! BTW our fiscal debt is about unfunded middle and upper class handouts not about the illegal alien food stamps foreign aid yada yada and everything else ya hear on the wingnut hangouts threads and airwaves

How can I make amends for being a libertarian all these years? Being opposed to corporate welfare, nation building, unfunded liabilities, etc. apparently won't meet with your approval.

I wish I was more like you. You know. Broke and bitter.

Rick that takes guts!!! Wait wait because of my brokenness and bitterness thanks to you donating all of your handout medicare advantage commissions to that well funded non government charity for brokenness I will be taken care of.GOD BLESS YOU RICK AND GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Adding 1-2 office staff costs them $100,000 to $200,000? How much did they raise minimum wage to last year?

It all depends on the position. Some office positions like the lady answering the phone pay $15/h... others like a coding specialist pay $50k+ per year.

But to hire 2 people at $50k/y does not cost $100k. It costs around $150k/y between insurance/benefits/taxes/misc overhead.

The general rule of thumb is that total cost to the business per employee, is 120%-175% of their salary.

I didn't know Tina's husband was president.

FWIW, I don't recall ever blocking two people in the same thread ........ until now.

Agreed that payroll tax on an employee is a killer.... health insurance costs will go up much more dramatically than the payroll tax

Its not just the 8% from FICA or the HI. Umbrella policies take the number of staff into account on pricing. Malpractice insurance takes into account the number of staff. Then there is workers comp that obviously prices on a per employee basis.

Then there is payroll that prices per employee or as a % of transactions.

Then there are misc costs such as materials used, increased utilities, etc.

After all of that you have the health insurance... which is often 10%-30% of a $50k salary depending on what % the employer pays & the demographics of the company. And possibly dental & vision too.

Then many doctors have a 401k plan, which often charges admin expenses on a per employee basis... then if they offer a match or automatic employer contributions, that could be an extra 1%-5% over salary on top of everything else.

The true cost of an employee is at minimum 20% more than their salary... usually it is 40%-60% more for a successful doctors office.

Tyler, you reminded me that years ago I contracted with a firm out of W-S to market their payroll reallocation service. I don't recall their name, or the details of the program, but it had the employer paying the employee share of FICA and HI insurance.

The way the numbers crunched out, the employee had more take home pay, WC premiums dropped and total payroll costs dropped.

It was magic.

Almost impossible for people to grasp. We had a program, probably Lotus spreadsheet, that crunched the numbers. The results all laid out but people still thought it was sorcery.

Sold a few but not enough to make any real money. Have no idea what happened to the company, or the concept.

Damn shame.

And then we're not even talking about the the patients that don't pay .....physicians offices have to go and try to collect from the deadbeats
