What we were told last in WA was Medicaid remains Medicaid, which is not part of the exchange. You cannot participate in the exchange if you are eligible for Medicaid. At least that's what was said here.

JUST got back from the Austin Humana Meeting.....they showed 500,000 people will be eligible for subsidy plans here in Austin....with a skinny network....when asked what if these doc's are not accepting new clients answer was we will cross that bridge when it comes....

I had to drive behind one of those "skinny/narrow" network providers the other day to go around an accident. The doctor and a nurse were out back having a smoke break. I believe those are called doc-in-the-box, or something similar?

The states that didn't expand Medicaid are looking smarter all the time. The Federal Government is already starting to scale back Medicaid support payments to the states.

The average cut in Medicaid reimbursement pay for physicians starting 1/1/2015 will be a whopping 73% in the 42 states that are not going to replace what the government takes away at the end of this year.

Story: Most States Let Medicaid Doc Pay Hikes Lapse

HHS is oblivious to the fact that only a minority of physicians currently accept Medicaid, and that this funding-cut will degrade the program even further. They're still pushing hard to get another million people added before the next Private Insurance open enrollment commences on November 15th.

States don't have a printing press or a line of credit with the Bank of China. This puppy was bound to blow up eventually. Too bad the lame stream media won't report it prior to the 2014 elections

As a general rule, Medicaid pts are not healthier than the general population. Poor health habits (tobacco, alcohol, etc), diet, failure to follow doc orders, failure to fill and take their medication, obesity, etc

But from a carrier standpoint the Mcaid business is ASO (no risk) which makes it profitable.

And lack of education which equals poor work skills, so their laboring jobs don't allow them time to go to the doc??? If someone would wake up and spend some of the ACA money on vocational training in high schools, maybe we could graduate kids with a skill. That earns a liveable wage. And keeps them off the dole. Just a thought.

(Sorry-I couldn't resist poking the bear)

But I agree that Medicaid patients are not healthier.

And its crap. The carriers take it as a pass thru and the providers are getting hammered. And they need to make money somewhere, so they raise rates. Which affects the public who has insurance and is paying for Medicaid in two places. With their tax dollars AND premium dollars.

What a mess.
