Assurant Eliminates Platinum, Gold, and Silver HSA Plans

I'm sure I'm correct and rates are still on the Sherpa so anyone can check. Also, anyone can check and clearly find the Blue network is much stronger here in the Panhandle (remember, Escambia alone does not define the Panhandle).
Your love affair with Assurant burns strong though and I admire that.

I know, I hate it when my Assurant client calls complaining that they got to keep their doctor, and can see any doctor/specialist they want to without a referral, inside the largest PPO network in the country, and take any drug they want on the largest open formulary.
loved Assurant this year. Came in handy. Oh well.

Assurant was the best company for quoting/apps/network/plan design and they actually paid me on time for every case every month. Can't say that about any other companies except maybe Humana. Feels like I'm going to get screwed somehow though.

Typical Florida Blue guy, don't let the facts get in the way of a good bs story.

In Washington State Assurant kicked ass in 2014.

In 2014 I put all my sick clients on the Gold 2000 max (no platinum last year here). They were cheaper and a better plan...They paid 9% commissions + $150 per app bonus. Made a killing!

In 2015 they lowered commissions to 7.5% and raised prices by 19.9%. Not very competitive anymore except for their Platinum $0 plan which they just got rid of...

They are an amazing company and extremely good at paying claims. I also have a good relationship with my West Coast regional rep.

Hope they come out with some good 2016 plans and are somewhat cost competitive...

why... they have a history of dicking the agent... why would anyone deal with these suckers

Assurant had incredible prices, plan designs, and networks. Awesome networks! Their customer service is like concierge! In many parts of the country they sold a lot of plans (most of Florida, Wisconsin, Washington, and many other states). That wasn't true here in AZ, though. Here in AZ, they were only a good choice for the sick folks with enough money to pay the high premiums! And that's where I agree with a couple of TaterPeeler's posts from a few days ago when he said they were foolish in their plan designs and pricing. They attracted high-utilization clients in many states, including AZ. Adverse selection in some states was enough to sink the boat, even though other states had actuarially sound pricing. Even pre-ACA adverse selection was a hot button, but post ACA it was a game-ender.

I can only speak for myself but Assurant, until the recent commission elimination, has paid me everything that was due on a timely basis.

I wish I could say the same about the other carriers- Aetna, for one, is so far behind the 8 ball in paying commissions for new policies I will never write another ACA application for them, it just isn't worth the time or effort.
