Newly licensed P/C, L/H/VA agent wants to know..... What would be the best choice(s) of insurance to sell Part -Time (20-30hrs/wk) ?

Any market that you feel comfortable working and have access to products, training, prospects, or leads.

How about Commercial Lines ??

I very much doubt it.

Some folks like to use the example of "would you want a doctor that only wanted to start out by working part-time?" There is a lot more involved in practicing medicine than being an insurance agent, but that doesn't mean it isn't at least true to some degree. Insurance can be complicated and making the right or wrong decision can have significant impacts in the lives of your clients. FE is pretty simple. Starting off with something like that isn't going to be as risky for you or your clients.

Why would you only want to start part-time?

If your putting in 20-30 hours per week seeking out new client and customer opportunities, the that seems pretty full time to me. Sales in any aspect is a number game. If you want to make more money, talk to more people. Fince ways to market yourself. mail outs are easy and quick, but normally only show a 1% return. If your alright with that, have at it. Also let family, friends, and always find a way to pass out cards when your standing in line. But more then anything, do you believe in what your selling. If you don't you might want to find another line of work or opportunity. Also, according to money magazine, when someone goes into business for the money, they have a tuff time succeeding, but when you go into business to make a difference, your chances of success go up. Hope this helps.
