Cold Data

Yet, per Jeb Blount (author of Fanatical Prospecting), more people are picking up the phone than before? I know that I get calls from my doctor, dentist, and others... and they call from numbers I don't necessarily recognize so I pick up more often than not. It's when it's the same woman's voice for the auto warranties that bugs me.

Sure there's Caller ID issues - as long as you're not showing up as "Spam Risk" (as the telemarketer from Ethos Life did to me yesterday; I picked up anyway.)

Be sure to register your number(s) with this site to help verify you at least as 'legitimate':

A decade ago, many agents and myself bought cold leads from vendors. These leads were 3-12 months old and had been worked over by other agents.

From what I understand, me and all of the agents doing this found it unsuccessful and moved on to a different marketing plan.

If you are "cold calling" people who have not filled out a lead or responding positively to a telemarketer, I don't feel you will do well. Given technology, most people are being contacted 5-7 times a day for some product.

You'll probably have to talk to 100 people to find 2 who will show some interest. With caller id, you'll have to make 400-500 calls to get in touch with 100 people. How long can you do that before you burn out?

Hope I'm wrong and I wish you the best. Good luck.
Thank you!
