When I complained to my doctor's billing person that I did not owe a bill, she said that I did because the insurance company said so. Enter the EOB. I started matching provider bills to the carrier EOB's. If I disagreed with the EOB, I called the ar person and let her know I had her bill and was preparing to argue with the insurance company about it.
Medicare equivalent-the Medigap carrier's statement. Even though my medigap is an HDF and I know I will be required to make a payment, I still want to know I am paying the correct amount. I know that I could go online with CMS, but Medico has a very nice statement I get delivered in the mail. I just cross check provider bills to Medico statements. I have had over $40K of provider bills submitted to Medicare this year and that process has worked just fine.
