Found My Niche....I Hope

Wino, I think we pretty much work the same and approach things the same way. I haven't reached a point where I'll tell anybody "no" yet. Some of that is due to wanting to help those who ask and the other is it is nice to get paid even if it's small commish.

I have just started firing some. Not many, Hard to do. Mostly habitual lapsers.

I agree it is nice getting paid. Plus never know when that little term plan will become a larger plan later.

Have a good one,

Lee

Thanks for all of the replies and input, I have a better understanding and will not limit myself to anything... One common thing about most of the companies here is that they are on the Sink or Swim program and seem to be mainly concerned about the ability to fog a mirror than Training and the agents career path, sad thing is after speaking with 8-9 different companies here only 2 asked me why I would even consider this business..... Maybe that's not important to some but it sure is to me..... I was not looking to be biased to anyone or judge anyone just looking for a market that I could focus on initially .......I suppose I'm going about it the wrong way but I'm just looking for a/my way to get started in the business.... Guidance is important and I appreciate all of the responses and thankful to be apart of this Forum.....

Excited about my new career and being able to provide a much needed service to all my future customers.......

.......Personally knowing what the consequences that not having the correct coverage in place are.... I wish someone would have Knocked on my door...

Again thanks to everyone

If you want to have a niche, your better off trying to establish a niche among people who have some commonality where they are talking to one another. Unless you think you can network among overweight people (maybe there's a support groups you can work through) you should probably leave this one behind as an idea. Follow the advice that says you should help just about anyone who wants what you got. There's a market for insurance, and I believe there's a number of people out there who want it, know they need it, but they have no idea how to go about getting it. It's extremely old sales advice, but if you go out there introducing yourself to people and telling them what you do, you'll get invited in from time to time, and that's where the sale is made.

I don't do much Aviva Life since I got ticked at them a couple of years ago, however...

They did (and maybe still do) have a program to help people stay healthy [just checked, and they do: ]Aviva USA | Long-term Savings, Insurance, and Retirement Income Products to Help You Get the Most Out of Life.

Anyway, if I was looking for a niche along these line, I would go for the health nuts and the overweight wannabethinners out there. This could be a terrific niche if you stress good health and how having good health, or striving for good health, can be rewarded with better premiums. All the Mayo stuff adds to the glitz. Go for the jogging crowd, the gym crowd, the diet-of-the-week crowd. That would be one huge crowd.

You want a niche? There it is. Not the McDonald's, dicey underwriting crowd, but the health conscious crowd who will be vain enough to appreciate an agent who matches them with a program like Aviva's.

And no, I'm not an Aviva shill. I personally don't care much for them.

I don't know, I've worked with a number of people who fit the mold of exemplary health; when there's an underwriting bump in the road, they tend to take extremely personally, and that often kills things or at least causes significantly more work.

If you found out that you can become a specialist and may have expert knowledge of this particular niche, it' good for you. Often, approaching others with similar circumstances in internet forums, associations or competitors in the same trade can help track down your niche products.
