Since all the carriers have discontinued maternity benefits on individual policies in FL does anyone have a solution to help families in need of maternity?

3 options:

-Get a job with health insurance that includes maternity
-Buy an HSA-compatible policy, negotiate a flat cash price, and use the HSA to pay for everything.
-Everyone's favorite - Medicaid! Why pay for it when somebody else will? ;)

The income limits are so high for OB medicaid.

Use supplemental insurance: short term disability and hospital indemnity both cover normal delivery. Couple that with a plan with a large deductible, or one just covering complications.

Vaginal deliveries: Pay cash
Non-Vaginal deliveries: Use your health insurance
This doesn't apply to all plans. Some carriers will treat any type of delivery as a non-covered. For example, the wording we gave at BCBSKC was "When you got pregnant, you knew you'd have to deliver some way, so that is NOT a complication".
