For life? What's your main focus? Term, GUL, FE, Traditional WL, etc.?

Whole life use the big mutuals: Mass, Guardian, Penn. You can contract direct.

Term: William Penn (NY Banner), US Life (NY AIG), Protective, Principal, ANICO (and the big mutuals)

GUL: Nationwide (and a bunch of the earlier mentioned carriers that also have Term/WL)

No idea on FE but I heard NY is not good for carriers in that market.

Mass and Guardian you will have to contract with a local GA.
NY Life is not an easy company to do business with as a broker , I believe the minimum premium per case is $25k.
