Kaiser Permanente to Acquire Geisinger

Kaiser Permanente agreed to acquire Danville, Pa.-based Geisinger Health as part of a new value-based care nonprofit called Risant Health.

University of Pennsylvania Health System has refrained from the trend, Mr. Mahoney told the Business Journal.

Glad to hear that Penn is "refraining," while Jefferson isn't. Geisinger has had its own MAPD's for years, way before KP/Rizant bought them. People in central people seem to love Geisinger, watching to see what happens with KP in charge.

Will be interesting to learn if Kaiser's backing will help Geisinger expand further, faster into PA/NJ metro burbs. Already have ~100k Medicare beneficiaries, but yr over yr enrollment was flat to slightly declining
