Amantadine Hcl is a generic prescription; Gocovri is the branded form of Amantadine Hcl.

Thanks, very helpful. I have a feeling there will be some Rx changes once she reviews the info I sent.

I've got a client on level 4 IRMAA getting Rytary PAP via Walgreens Alliance. No clue, but he got approved.

COBRA Info:
Special Enrollment Period
After your Initial Enrollment Period is over, you may have a chance to sign
up for Medicare during a Special Enrollment Period. For example, if you
didn’t sign up for Part B (or Part A if you have to buy it) when you were first
eligible because you have group health plan coverage based on current
employment (your own, a spouse’s, or a family member’s if you have a
disability), you can sign up for Part A and/or Part B:
• Anytime you’re still covered by the group health plan
• During the 8-month period that begins the month after the employment
ends or the coverage ends, whichever happens first

Don't go there on the IRA. The $2K OOP is going to hold. Its political and I get that. But there's a reason its 2025. You know...right before the next Presidential election.

I've got a client on level 4 IRMAA getting Rytary PAP via Walgreens Alliance. No clue, but he got approved.

I talked with a referral yesterday who is taking Gocovri and is getting assistance and from the same pharmacy, AllianceRx Walgreens. She seems to think the assistance is only through her employer group plan and that it will go away. Now you have me wondering if she could still qualify once on Medicare and a PDP.

Same for my lady . . . Walgreens Alliance via mail.

It's not unusual for PAP's to limit funding for folks under 65 and covered by a non-govt plan. Foundations are a bit more dicey than manufacturers discount cards.

PAN (details below) is a foundation that relies on grants and donations.

The fund for Parkinson's Disease is closed.

We don't have an open fund available for Parkinson's Disease, but we still may be able to help.

Footnote . . .

Just noticed both the meds are extended release and sometimes the generic version doesn't perform the same as brand. Brand name XR med's are designed to evenly release the medication over a number of hours . . . 6, 8, etc. Sometime the generics don't release the medication evenly, but rather you get a higher dose within the first couple of hours and it tapers off quickly

I saw that one on Needy Meds with the same result. She's going to be in for sticker shock once I send her the PDP cost summary. Looks like there are only two PDP carriers who cover Gocovri (Clear Spring and Cigna).

At least that is the way it is for now . . .

As I see it, the best hope is to switch to generic and use SingleCare or GoodRx.

I suspect the reason why so many of the PDP/MAPD plans don't cover the brand name is because there are generic equivalents.

Obviously zip code specific, but make sure to use Walgreens when running the drugs. The one I have on GoCovri is paying for it ($7K this year) but Walgreens was the cheapest and that included Alliance.

I used Walmart & Walgreens . . . both requested by client.

Don't know how Scott came up with Clear Spring. My report says NC for Rytary, and tier 5 for Gocovri. Walgreens is std with Clear Spring, Publix and Walmart are preferred.

Cigna has Walgreens & Walmart preferred, tier 4 for both drugs.

My guess is both will be pulled from all formularies in the near future since there are generic equivalents
