Self Promotion

Everyone is promoting themselves on a daily basis, even those who don't sell insurance.

Ever hear the term "making friends"? How does one do that? By standing on the street corner waiting for someone to come up and introduce themselves?

Unless you were the heart throb of your high school how did you guys get a date without promoting yourself?

How do insurance agents sell policies without promoting themselves? Does one expect people to come up to them and ask if they sell insurance?

So many questions and obvious answers to all of them.

What makes the difference is HOW one promotes themselves. There is smooth, helpful, conversational and then there is obnoxious.

You HAVE to engage in self-promotion. Marketing is essential no matter how smart you are or how much you understand the products, etc. The key is to be selective and tasteful.

OK, let me rephrase this . . .

Say someone writes a "how to" book. An e-book. On something such as, "How to Find the Best Term Life Insurance Policy Without Breaking a Sweat".

You promote it on a site, such as Amazon.

Then you give just enough information to intrigue them but leave them wanting more . . . which leads them to an agent . . . such as myself.

Something to pursue or not? Has anyone tried this and been successful?

It is a form of sampling.
