Has anyone ever heard of this new care management company called "Silverback" Humana has my advantage plan clients jumping through hoops to get referrals to see a specialist?

It is suppose to be managing Humana's plans in TX and here in NC.
I'm livid so any info would be helpful since Humana is clueless!!
"Never heard of that"... "What was the name of the company again"... "I can't find anything in our system and my supervisor has never heard of them"... freaken idiots!!

Interesting looks like Silverback is an insurance agency that the North Texas Specialty Physicians network doctors tells their patients to use to enroll in Humana,Care NCare and UHC. NTSP is the IPA doing the managing and causing the hoop jumping.

I wonder if someone at Silverback plays golf with some doctors at NTSP

Well good luck because the customer service number which is the same as the provider service number goes to Humana and they have no clue what an IPA is or who the IPA is and instruct you that you are sending claims to the wrong address and payer ID when it's clearly printed on the patient's insurance card with a giant Humana logo. It's like going to KFC and he asks you how to cook the chicken!!!!

Just had a client call. Seems that her Dr. Ofc. told her they had stopped taking Aetna HMO but they did take Medicare Advantage Plans. I called and the only thing the Dr. Ofc. could tell me was to call Silverback. No answer when I tried but they seem to be an insurance agency. Thought it was illegal for a Dr. Ofc. to refer patients to an insurance agency or company!

Sounds like a sweet gig for that agency. I'm not aware of any rules against that. I've seen it happen often.

I would just go through each companies website that you carry and see if they are in network.

Silverback is not an agency but a management company. I had an issue with them before due to the time it takes them to process a referral.

In north Texas, if the PCP is with NTSB they have to use Silverback. An easy fix it to switch PCP to one that's not with NTSB.
