Good post, Robert. I remember in Marketing 101 I took many years ago that even without a middleman (wholesaler) there are costs involved that will be passed on to the consumer. It's a delusion to think that it always cheaper to buy direct.
With regard to Ohio National, they are direct but they have regional representatives that contact the prospective agent and process the paperwork. Dealings are normally done with the home office directly once you are appointed.
