I have a life accident and health license, i'm a new independent broker, is there any restriction in using the term "advisor" in my company name? i already have a registered llc with the name "advisor" in it that i would like to use. thanks, liza

Generally a good idea at steer clear of using that word in writing unless you have a 65/66. I don't believe it is illegal to use, but it could come back to bite you in the butt.

What kind of advisor? Insurance license does not qualify you as an expert, you can certainly give your opinion, normally your advise is going to be biased toward the product that you are peddaling. Be prepared to show some creditials to back up your advisor claim. The world is full of self proclaimed financial planners and advisors, holding nothing more than an insurance license. t hall

Insurance advisor is doable, use the phrase financial advisor and FINRA will flip its $@&! if you don't hold a 65/66, even if you're not registered.
